Richard Hillis

Richard Hillis BSc Hons (Imperial College), PhD (University of Edinburgh), GAICD, has a career spanning research, research management, the commercialisation of research and the resources industry. He has held various leadership positions at the University of Adelaide including: Mawson Professor of Geology, State of South Australia Chair of Petroleum Geology, Head of the Australian School of Petroleum and Pro Vice-Chancellor (Research Performance). Richard has extensive experience of CRCs having been a researcher in the Australian Petroleum CRC and CO2 CRC, and having served on the Board of CRC LEME. From 2010 - 2018 he was CEO of the Deep Exploration Technologies Cooperative Research Centre (DET CRC). Richard has also served on the Board of the CRC Association (now CRA). He was awarded South Australian Scientist of the Year 2018 and is a Fellow of ATSE. He has also been involved in establishing and directing technology and resources companies including JRS Petroleum Research (a technology company spun-off from his university research group), Petratherm (ASX-listed) and KCL Resources (backdoor listed on the ASX as Highfield Resources). Richard is currently Professorial Research Fellow at the University of Adelaide, Non-Executive Director of AuScope and Non-Executive Chair of ASX-listed Investigator Resources.
