Nara Choi

Nara Choi is a PhD student at the Australian National University who specialises in engineering in renewable energy. Her prior work focused on iron ore pellets as a promising heat carrier for waste heat recovery. Nara investigated pellets' material properties, including thermal conductivity, heat capacity and cyclability. Her current research seeks to apply new design concepts for electrical heaters and heat exchangers specifically tailored for the efficient electrical heating of thermal energy storage materials. Building upon this, her future work will delve into intricacies of industrial heat exchangers, such as hot blast stoves and their adaptation for operation with renewable energy inputs to reduce the reliance on fossil fuels. Nara plans to broaden her scope to investigate other critical heat exchange systems, such as boilers and exhausters, recognising their widespread applicability across diverse industrial sectors.
