Marcus Byrne

Marcus has a Double Degree in Engineering (Honours) (Mechanical) and Commerce (Accounting) from Curtin University. He is passionate about innovation and sustainability with future industry career ambitions in integrating sustainable practices and ideology into the heavy industry. Marcus spent the last year of his undergraduate studies working part-time on concept design, optimisation, and financial analysis for a renewable-powered facility. Carbon emissions continue to be a main contributor to climate change globally. In 2021, Australia has started to develop long-term emission reduction plans, however, the emission management processes are broad, targeting the whole country with little planning outside of economics and technology. Marcus’ PhD project is focused on developing low-carbon transition (LCT) roadmaps for industry partners in the alumina industry, addressing not only techno-economic concerns but also social and environmental issues.
