Huei Yeong Lim
Huei Yeong is a PhD student in the School of Chemical Engineering, Adelaide University, focusing on calcination of gibbsite (a mineral form of aluminium hydroxide) to alumina in a steam environment. He holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in chemical engineering from Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS, Malaysia. His current research explores the crystalline phase transformations and process kinetics of gibbsite calcination in a steam environment, aiming to understand the influences of steam on the calcination reaction chemistry. With extensive prior research experience, having been both a postgraduate student and a professional research scientist, Huei Yeong brings a background in thermochemical conversion processes of biomass into biofuels and biochemicals. He is skilled in analysing process chemistry and kinetics, scientific writing and communication, and research project management. By deepening his understanding of the decarbonisation of alumina calcination technologies, Huei Yeong aims to contribute to a sustainable and net-zero emissions future.
